Peer Reviews of Initial Draft
After going through the peer reviews for our movie opener, it became clear that a few technical issues were holding the story back. One of the biggest points people mentioned was the lack of sound, which made the visuals feel empty and harder to connect with. To fix that, we’re adding diegetic audio like breathing, footsteps, and subtle bathroom sounds so the tension feels more real and the scene has more weight.
Another common note was the camera work. Some shots came out shaky, and that distracted from the emotions we were trying to show. To improve this, we’re reshooting certain moments with a tripod and making sure any movement actually follows a character instead of happening randomly. This will help the shots feel smoother and more intentional.
We also learned that the structure of the opener wasn’t coming through clearly. Since the sound was missing and some transitions felt rough, the plot was harder for viewers to follow. To fix that, we’re re-editing the beginning to introduce a clearer conflict right away and using stronger visual connections, like match cuts, to tie scenes together. For example, cutting from a locker slam to a book slam helps show the pressure the girls are facing without needing extra dialogue
By tightening the sound, stabilizing the camera, and strengthening the story flow, we can make sure the audience focuses on the message instead of the technical flaws.
