MoodBoard

 For this project, I imagined myself as a set designer and made four mood boards for different locations. I chose images that highlighted things like lighting, props, costumes, and color to create the mood I wanted. My goal was for the audience to make certain assumptions about the characters, like their personality or status, based on the details I included. Each location was designed to spark a reaction, whether that was comfort, curiosity, or tension.



When constructing this image, I chose a dark, misty forest with twisted trees and a narrow path for the location/set to suggest mystery, danger, and the unknown. I added props like a lantern and scattered branches to create an unsettling feeling, while a hooded figure (actor) was included to hint at secrecy or hidden intentions. The costumes are dark and simple, keeping the focus on the eerie setting. With cool-toned lighting and shadows, the mood becomes tense and suspenseful, inviting viewers to feel curiosity and unease. These choices were made to construct meaning around secrecy, fear, and the anticipation of what lies ahead.






When constructing this image, I chose a grand ballroom with chandeliers, marble floors, and ornate decorations for the location/set to suggest elegance, power, and wealth. I added props like candles and tables with fine details to emphasize luxury, while the actors (dressed in gowns and suits) highlight formality and status. The costumes communicate sophistication and class, making the audience assume the characters hold influence in this space. The golden, warm lighting creates a glowing, welcoming atmosphere that adds to the grandeur. These choices were made to construct meaning around wealth, high society, and the importance of appearances.





 

When constructing this image, I chose a modern café with wooden tables and greenery for the location/set to suggest comfort, calmness, and everyday life. I added props like coffee mugs and pastries to create a sense of casual gathering, while the actors (dressed in relaxed, casual clothing) suggest normalcy and relatability. The costumes reflect simplicity, inviting the audience to feel connected to the characters’ everyday experiences. With soft golden lighting and warm tones, the scene feels inviting and safe. These choices were made to construct meaning around community, relaxation, and the enjoyment of small, simple moments.





When constructing this image, I chose a neon-lit futuristic cityscape with tall skyscrapers and glowing billboards for the location/set to suggest innovation, progress, and constant movement. I added props like holograms and high-tech gadgets to show advancement, while the actors (wearing sleek, futuristic costumes) highlight adaptation to a modern world. The costumes suggest boldness and individuality, reflecting the characters’ role in a changing society. Bright neon lighting in blues, purples, and pinks creates a vibrant, energetic atmosphere. These choices were made to construct meaning around technology, ambition, and the excitement of the future.

In this blog, I will be exploring different camera movements, showing how each one can change the way we see a scene. I’ll explain what each shot does, how it affects the audience, and why it’s used in filming Tilt: The shot begins at the student’s feet and tilts upward, capturing her hands as she struggles to choose a book. By leaving her face out of frame, the tilt emphasizes her hesitation through gesture and movement rather than expression. Depending on the pace, the shot can serve different purposes. At normal speed, it presents an ordinary moment, while in slow motion, it builds suspense and highlights the difficulty of her choice. Steadicam: This Steadicam shot captures two friends studying in the library. As they continue their work while talking with others around them, the shot creates a natural and realistic atmosphere.  Two friends mourning together in silence                                              This photo shows two friends sitting close together, sharing a quiet moment of grief. Even without words, you can feel the support between them through their body language and how they lean toward each other. The black‑and‑white filter adds to the mood, making the scene feel heavier and more focused on their emotions instead of the background. The eye‑level angle keeps everything honest and simple, almost like you’re witnessing the moment in real time.
