Representation

Image
In our film opener, we centered the story around real high school experiences, especially the pressures tied to gender, growing up, and emotional vulnerability. We wanted the visuals to feel honest and unpolished, rather than the glossy style that most teen dramas use. The film follows girls who are trying to survive a tense social environment, and instead of focusing on the popular crowd, we highlight the students who usually fade into the background.  The two main characters represent different responses to trauma. One shows her pain through visible distress, while the other tries to hold everything in. Even though the “bully and victim” setup is familiar, our version avoids clichés by paying more attention to what happens afterward, emotionally, rather than the bullying itself. A lot of teen media either turns victims into revenge-driven characters or makes them bounce back instantly, but we wanted something more grounded. We also pushed back against typical teen portrayal...

Final Storyboard

Image
The main changes we ended up making to our storyboard were the setting and the places we planned to film. The final version turned out a bit different from what we originally picked. We chose a similar location to our first idea, but the one we wanted at first was too crowded and noisy, so it wouldn’t have worked the way we imagined. When it came to the script, we originally thought about doing a silent film. Once we started filming, it felt a little too awkward with no dialogue at all, so we added a few lines just to give the story the right mood and tone. Other than those adjustments, everything else stayed the same, the meaning behind the project didn’t change, and we kept the quiet, simple ending we wanted. For our final storyboard, the film opens with Tatianna walking into the bathroom while talking on the phone. As soon as she sees Relysia, her whole mood shifts and she becomes furious. She starts bullying her and pushes her into a stall. During this moment, we used an ...

Title Sequence

TITLE :  The Significance Studio or distribution company Presents (you will make up a fake company):  Limerence studios    Production Company (who actually made the film, also a made-up company) A Laveus Production Film Actors/ Starring Cast Starring:  Tatianna Zeledon, Relysia Hyatt, Azmina Hossain, Isabel Laveus Music by:  Higher power, Christian Petterman Written by:  Azmina, Isabell, Tatianna, Relysia Produced by:  Isabell Directed by:  Isabell Edited by:  Isabell, Relysia Story by  : Azmina, Tatianna, Isabell, Relysia The title we chose for our film opener is “The Significance.” We paired it with a white color and the Courier New Bold font because that combination made the title stand out more and gave it a stronger, more meaningful presence. Our original idea was “The Bathroom,” but it didn’t fully match the storyline or the deeper message we wanted to communicate. In the end, “The Significance” captured everything w...

Editing 2

Image
The title our group agreed on is “The Significance.” We chose this because it reflects how one moment sets off the next, showing a clear chain of cause and effect. We used only one font, Futura Bold, and kept it large to highlight the central idea of the film opener.  A few visual effects were added, including the music, the fading of audio, and the smooth shifts between scenes, which all  helped create a steady sense of sadness throughout the piece. The transitions mainly came from switching between different camera angles filmed in the same location. For the audio, we  recorded on a separate device instead of relying on the camera. Using voice memos made the sound clearer and easier to understand.  Filming came with several challenges, such as people being absent, someone dealing with injuries, and others needing to leave early. Even with these setbacks, everyone contributed and stayed committed to finishing the project. Editing has taken around three hour...

Editing 1

Image
For the titles and fonts, we went with a simple, clean look that feels serious and emotional rather than dramatic, and we kept the colors neutral, so they matched the overall mood. For the video effects, we adjusted the brightness and contrast to make certain shots slightly darker and more realistic, and we added light color correction to keep everything consistent. Most of the transitions we used were slow fades and cross dissolves to help the scenes flow smoothly. For the audio, we included soft background music and reduced as much background noise as we could. We ran into a few issues like uneven lighting, awkward cuts, and distracting sounds, but we fixed them by trimming clips more carefully, re‑recording certain parts, and adjusting the camera settings. Editing has taken some time, and while everyone contributed ideas, Isabel mainly handled cutting the clips and adding effects. We also filmed a little extra footage to improve one scene that didn’t look natural the first tim...
